Global English
Weekly Schedule: 15 hours per week + 5 workshop hours
English Proficiency: All levels accepted
Morning English classes offer a student-centred, progressive approach to language acquisition. Using modern language-teaching techniques, our highly qualified and experienced English teachers focus on improving communication skills and building confidence in self-expression, while challenging students to expand their vocabulary and improve their knowledge of how the language works.
Two afternoons per week, students taking Global English participate in Future-Ready Skills workshops designed to enhance the language learning experience while focusing on developing the soft skills that are considered essential for success in today’s ever-changing workplace.
Workshops also offer an opportunity to practice your English with local Canadian high school students (“ambassadors”). Together, you will work on interactive and engaging activity-based challenges designed to push you to think in new ways, learn new approaches to problem-solving, and work as a team to achieve your goals.
Global Leadership
Weekly Schedule: 15 hours per week + 5 project prep hours
English Proficiency: Intermediate – Advanced (IELTS 4.0+)
This programme provides youth aged 12-17 with the essential foundations to become better leaders in an ever-changing world. Morning lessons are taught by expert staff with a focus on providing students with essential communication, leadership, and decision-making skills. Leadership skills come to life when students discuss their ability to take positive action not only at local and global community levels, but within their immediate community at the CISS Vancouver campus as well.
Afternoon blocks on Mondays and Wednesdays, are dedicated to giving students time to prepare presentations of their action plans for the projects they will pursue when they return home. Students present their projects individually or in groups on the final day of the programme.
