The CISS Toronto programme is an ideal choice for students aged 12–16 looking for an exciting summer experience in the heart of one of Canada’s most vibrant cities.
Based at St. Hilda’s College Residence, part of the University of Toronto’s Trinity College campus, the programme is within easy walking distance of museums, art galleries, shops and many of Toronto’s most popular attractions.
Students can choose from three study options:
General English – 15 hours of English lessons per week, with a focus on building confidence and communication skills.
Global Leadership – 20 hours per week for students with intermediate to advanced English who are interested in leadership, collaboration and making a positive difference.
AI Future Skills Lab – NEW FOR 2027 – 20 hours per week exploring AI, innovation, creativity and the technologies shaping our future through hands-on projects and challenges.
Whatever their study choice, students enjoy an exciting programme of activities and excursions designed to showcase the best of Toronto.

Learn English in a true University setting! CISS Toronto is proud to offer a comprehensive ESL programme including 15 hours of lessons per week (1 hour = 60 minutes). This option provides classroom instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on helping students of all proficiency levels to improve their fluency and accuracy of speech. The general English experience focuses mostly on conversation and is the choice for most international summer students.

Develop the confidence and skills to become a leader in a changing world with our Global Leadership Course, designed for students ages 12–16 who are ready to explore what it means to lead, collaborate and make a positive difference. Through interactive workshops, group challenges and real-world problem-solving, students explore leadership, communication, cultural understanding and the qualities that help individuals and teams create meaningful change.
Leadership comes to life as students consider how they can take positive action in their own communities, at home and within their programme environment. Working together, they explore different perspectives, develop solutions to real-world challenges and build the confidence to communicate their ideas and work effectively with others.
The programme culminates in a meaningful presentation where students put their leadership skills into action, sharing their vision and developing an action plan for a project they can pursue when they return home.

AI Future Skills Lab - NEW FOR 2027

Prepare for the future with our AI Future Skills Lab, designed for students ages 12–16 who are curious about technology, creativity and the rapidly changing world around them. In this dynamic programme, students explore how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are transforming the way we learn, communicate, create and solve problems. Through interactive activities, creative challenges and collaborative projects, students develop the critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation skills needed to navigate the opportunities of tomorrow.
Learning comes to life as students explore real-world questions and consider how technology can be used to create positive solutions. Working together, they investigate new ideas, experiment with AI tools, develop innovative concepts and tackle challenges that connect technology with everyday life, society and future careers. Along the way, students build confidence in sharing their ideas, working collaboratively and thinking creatively.
The programme culminates in the CISS Future Lab Challenge, where students identify a real-world problem and develop an innovative technology or AI-assisted solution. They then present their ideas to their peers, demonstrating their creativity, problem-solving skills and vision for the future.

Live and Learn in the Heart of Toronto
Spend your summer at CISS Toronto, based at St. Hilda’s College Residence on the University of Toronto’s historic Trinity College campus. Located in one of Toronto’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, the programme is within easy walking distance of museums, galleries, shops, restaurants and many of the city’s most exciting attractions.
Students enjoy a comfortable and welcoming residence with buffet-style meals, common areas for relaxing and socializing, and outdoor spaces to enjoy between activities. With the University of Toronto campus as their summer home, students experience university life while discovering all that Toronto has to offer.
From exploring the city to making new international friends, CISS Toronto gives students the opportunity to learn, grow and experience an unforgettable Canadian summer.

Accommodation
Experience university life this summer while staying in a comfortable single or double room at St. Hilda’s residence on the Trinity College Campus. Students are accommodated by gender within the residence, with shared washrooms and shower facilities located on each floor.
Rooms include individual beds, desks and chairs, and storage space. Bed linens and a bath towel are provided; students should bring their own toiletries. Laundry facilities are available in the residence for a nominal fee, with laundry detergent provided.
CISS staff live in the residence and provide supervision throughout the programme.
Meals
Students enjoy three meals a day from Monday to Saturday, with a relaxed brunch and dinner on Sunday. Meals are served buffet-style in the university dining hall, with a variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs.

Activities
Students always have something to do, beyond their course of study. Our programme includes full-day and half-day excursions, plus we offer a variety of afternoon and evening activities.

The General English + Activity option is the ideal choice for international summer students who want to improve their English. With this option, students receive 10 hours of English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons per week. This includes classroom instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on helping students of all proficiency levels to improve in their fluency and accuracy of speech.
English lessons comprise two of the five daily periods. You can then choose different land, water, or art activities to fill the remaining two or three periods.
Included Excursions
The CISS Toronto excursions showcase the best that the city has to offer. Each week, students attend 1 full-day excursion and 3 half-day excursions as part of the programme. Full-day excursions take place every Thursday and half day excursions may take place during the afternoon or evening. Transportation, meals, and admission costs are included.

On non-excursion days, our team offers a variety of activities during the afternoons and evenings. Students may choose to participate in afternoon activities, all of which are staff led and supervised. Evening activities are considered mandatory for all students. The options available each day are noted on the schedule and may include:

Afternoon Sign-out
Once per week, students ages 14+ may be allowed to sign-out in groups of 3 or more for independent local shopping and/or sightseeing. Students must sign-out with a CISS staff and must stay together with their group while they are off-campus. For safety and to keep students close to campus, they are not allowed to use any form of public transportation. Sign-out is considered a privilege and all rules must be followed.
