At CISS Toronto, students build confidence and independence while experiencing the energy and diversity of one of the world’s most exciting cities.
Students stay at St. Hilda’s Residence on the University of Toronto’s historic Trinity College campus. Their days combine engaging lessons, city excursions and activities, with plenty of opportunities to make friends from around the world. It’s a summer of discovery, connection and memories that last a lifetime!

General English

Duration: 2-6 weeks
Learn English in a true University setting! CISS Toronto is proud to offer a comprehensive ESL programme including 15 hours of lessons per week (1 hour = 60 minutes). This option provides classroom instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on helping students of all proficiency levels to improve their fluency and accuracy of speech. The general English experience focuses mostly on conversation and is the choice for most international summer students.
Global Leadership

English level required: Intermediate to Advanced (IELTS 4.0+)

Lead. Connect. Make a Difference.
Develop the confidence and skills to lead, collaborate and make a positive difference. Through interactive lessons and engaging group work, students explore leadership, communication and cultural understanding. They learn to consider different perspectives and turn ideas into practical action.
The course concludes with students presenting their passion projects to a real audience, putting their leadership skills into practice and strengthening their sense of global responsibility.
AI Future Skills Lab

English Proficiency: Intermediate to Advanced (IELTS 4.0+)
Dates: 2 weeks
July 4 – July 17 or July 25 – August 07
Explore. Create. Innovate.
Explore the changing world of AI and how it influences the way we learn, communicate and create. Through hands-on activities and group challenges, students consider AI’s impact on society and learn how innovators approach real-world problems.
The course concludes with the CISS Future Lab Challenge. Working in teams, students develop a technology-based solution to a chosen problem, create a prototype or concept to show how it could work, and present their idea to the class.

Facilities
Live and Learn in the Heart of Toronto
Based at St. Hilda’s Residence on the University of Toronto’s historic Trinity College campus, CISS Toronto is within easy walking distance of museums, galleries, shops and popular city attractions.
Students enjoy a welcoming campus environment with classrooms, a historic dining hall, common areas for relaxing with friends and outdoor spaces for activities. With the campus as their summer home, they experience university residence life while exploring the city around them.

Accommodation
Experience university life this summer while staying in a comfortable single or double room at St. Hilda’s residence on the Trinity College Campus. Students are accommodated by gender within the residence, with shared washrooms and shower facilities located on each floor.
Rooms include individual beds, desks and chairs, and storage space. Bed linens and a bath towel are provided; students should bring their own toiletries. Laundry facilities are available in the residence for a nominal fee, with laundry detergent provided.
CISS staff live in the residence and provide supervision throughout the programme.
Meals
Students enjoy three meals a day from Monday to Saturday, with a relaxed brunch and dinner on Sunday. Meals are served buffet-style in the university dining hall, with a variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs.

Activities
Students always have something to do, beyond their course of study. Our programme includes full-day and half-day excursions, plus we offer a variety of afternoon and evening activities.

The General English + Activity option is the ideal choice for international summer students who want to improve their English. With this option, students receive 10 hours of English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons per week. This includes classroom instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on helping students of all proficiency levels to improve in their fluency and accuracy of speech.
English lessons comprise two of the five daily periods. You can then choose different land, water, or art activities to fill the remaining two or three periods.
Included Excursions
The CISS Toronto excursions showcase the best that the city has to offer. Each week, students attend 1 full-day excursion and 3 half-day excursions as part of the programme. Full-day excursions take place every Thursday and half day excursions may take place during the afternoon or evening. Transportation, meals, and admission costs are included.

On non-excursion days, our team offers a variety of activities during the afternoons and evenings. Students may choose to participate in afternoon activities, all of which are staff led and supervised. Evening activities are considered mandatory for all students. The options available each day are noted on the schedule and may include:

Optional Activities
Once or twice per week, students may choose to sign up for an optional activity. These activities are staff led and supervised and additional costs apply. Money is collected from the students at the programme. Optional activity choices may include:

Afternoon Sign-out
Once per week, students ages 14+ may be allowed to sign-out in groups of 3 or more for independent local shopping and/or sightseeing. Students must sign-out with a CISS staff and must stay together with their group while they are off-campus. For safety and to keep students close to campus, they are not allowed to use any form of public transportation. Sign-out is considered a privilege and all rules must be followed.
