Must students start in September and end in June?
Students participating in the Public school programme have much more flexibility. They can attend for short-term, one semester, or for a full-year. Students are encouraged to discuss these options with their CISS Coordinator.
Private schools are not as flexible as the public school system, and many schools – especially boarding/residential schools – will only consider full year students. Most private schools still operate on a full year / 3-term system, and students must complete the full year to obtain a credit. In recent years, some schools have been moving toward a semester system, allowing some flexibilty in terms of stay. As well, day schools may also consider half-year students. It is unlikely, however, that a private schools will accept any request for less than 1 semester as this takes a space away from a potential full year (or semester) student
