Programme

Offered in Toronto or Vancouver, this programme consists of a combination of ESL hours + Cooking hours.

The curriculum of the language study is designed to your personal language level and requested goals.

Each week, you and your teacher will determine a schedule for both your language lessons and your cooking lessons.  Outside of the lesson times, you will have plenty of opportunity for exploring the city.

Activities

At time of application you choose.

Cooking Lessons

You and your teacher will spend time grocery shopping and creating meals and desserts. Included with your programme is a visit to the local supermarket to select and buy ingredients to prepare a traditional Canadian meal and dessert. Students will learn some new cooking techniques and have recipes to bring home with them.

Location Language Activity ESL Hours + Activity Hours Per Week
Toronto English Cooking  10 hours ESL + 5 hours Cooking
Vancouver English Cooking  10 hours ESL + 5 hours Cooking

All our teachers hold recognized TESL or teaching certification. Lessons are delivered using modern communicative and task-oriented methodologies, including the use of current news media, role-playing, and interactive practice.

Two students, if traveling together, can request to stay and learn in one teacher’s home. Both students will receive the same lessons, must be of the same language level, and must select the same activity, which they will do together.

Homestay

The benefit to this style of programme is that your homestay is both your home and your school. Your host is your friend, family, and teacher. The more you can tell us about yourself, the better we can match a family to suit your personality and needs. Once a family has been selected, you will receive a profile prior to your arrival.

Your host family will welcome you into their home as part of their family. You will receive your own bedroom, complete with bed, dresser and closet. You will also have access to a quiet study area, either in your room or in another part of the home. Three well-balanced and nutritious meals daily are included, and, when possible, will be taken with the family. The language spoken in the home will be English, providing you with a complete immersion environment.
