CISS at Trinity Director
“Hello everybody! Welcome to the CISS at Trinity programme. I am very happy and excited to have you come to explore the beautiful city of Toronto. Here you will become immersed in the English language while we have lots of fun together! Our team of experienced and professional teachers and counselors are ready to embark on this adventure with you. Join us in what promises to be a great summer experience!”!
It is amazing how a few weeks can change and shape the life of a young learner. CISS recognizes the important role that camp plays in a young person’s life and tirelessly works to create the PERFECT team to lead this journey. I’m very excited to be a part of your experience this summer at CISS at Trinity!
I have several years of experience managing ESL City residential camps. This is truly the best way to learn English, and to become acquainted with a city as diverse as Toronto. Being born and raised here, I can’t wait to show students at Trinity all the hidden gems that this city has to offer!
I studied at York University, concurrently obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Specialized Honors English and a Bachelor of Education. I fell in love with learning and research, which inspired me to complete a Masters in English Literature. I take great pride in instilling this desire to learn in my students and look forward to helping students set similar goals.
Beyond camp, I am a certified teacher. I specialize in teaching English. I also have experience working with international high school students. My teaching philosophy focuses on teaching modern, digital savvy students to be compassionate Global Citizens. I advocate for literacy in various forms as I believe it essential for the 21st century learner.
In my spare time, I enjoy rereading Harry Potter, travelling, and discovering new areas of Toronto. I enjoy watching sports and indulging my creative side with paper crafting and scrapbooking.
I hope you enjoy summer with us, and I am confident that this Canadian experience will change your life!
Learn English in a true University setting! CISS at Trinity is proud to offer a comprehensive ESL programme with 25 hours per week. Our language classes help students improve their fluency by encouraging natural communication through interactive and engaging lessons and activities. Students learn and practice their communication skills, while focusing on pronunciation and becoming more confident English speakers.
The programme offers participants 20 hours of morning English lessons and an additional 5 hours of practicum on two afternoons each week, providing students an opportunity to interact with other international students and to practice their weekly learning in a new and exciting environment.
Lessons are theme/topic based and include a mix of classroom instruction and practical work which is language-driven and may include cultural outings and excursions.
Academic & Career Prep (Ages 16-18)
This course is designed to help international high school students prepare for the coming challenges of post-secondary studies and professional life in a supportive and academically stimulating environment. Combining critical exercises in self-reflection with an exploration of the study and career options available to them, students will come away from the course with a better understanding of their own identities and life goals, and how to strategize for their futures. Participants also learn how engaging deeply and creatively with the English language – beyond the basics of “ESL” – can help them realize their dreams.
Entrepreneurship (Ages 14-18) - NEW
In today’s world, creators and innovators are the most likely to succeed and have the greatest impact on society. We are invested in the future success of our students. This is why CISS is excited to introduce an entrepreneurship course option to our CISS at Trinity programme for 2020!
Students of different backgrounds and cultures come together and cultivate skills that empower them to think creatively and acquire the unique mindset of a true entrepreneur. This essential course aims to develop critical thinking, innovative decision-making, problem-solving, brainstorming, and teamwork skills. In their final presentations, students are then challenged to present their ideas and explain their vision.
This special course offers a positive and supportive learning environment in which students are inspired to embrace entrepreneurial thinking and to imagine unique career paths that complement their individual strengths and talents.

Students coming from certain countries, however, will require a Temporary Resident Visa (TVR). Please refer to the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration website for a complete listing of countries that require a TVR: www.cic.gc.ca
Do I need to purchase emergency travel medical insurance for my child?
No. CISS provides emergency out-of-country medical and dental insurance to a maximum of $100,000 CAD for students attending a CISS summer programme.
Who will receive my child when he/she arrives at the airport?
Staff from the CISS at Trinity programme will meet your child in the arrivals area at the airport. Staff wear blue t-shirts and hold signs bearing the programme name. It is the responsibility of the student to look for this sign and to remain in the arrivals area until he/she has met the staff member. Students travelling as a group with a group leader must remain together. The group leader should assist the students to find the programme staff member.
If your child is registered as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM), the person that CISS has designated earlier to you during the UM registration will be on hand to personally receive your child.
How will I know that my child has arrived safely at the programme?
CISS maintains regular contact with your Representative, and will immediately inform the Representative if a student has NOT arrived as expected. Otherwise, it should be assumed that all students have arrived safely.
What happens if my child has a medical emergency?
Our staff is trained to handle all medical emergencies. Our programme is located in very close proximity to Toronto's largest hospitals and many walk-in clinics. Should your child require medical attention, our staff will ensure he/she receives the proper treatment. CISS will inform both you and your representative (if applicable) of any emergencies that arise and the details/treatments involved.
Do you have a clothing list available?
Yes. Please download the CISS at Trinity Clothing List (PDF) here.
To ensure your child returns home with all of his/her belongings, we also recommend that all clothing and personal items be labelled with your child's name. For your convenience, we have partnered with Mabel’s Labels, a Canadian company with all types of labels that are colourful, indestructible and fun! This company ships both domestically and internationally. To purchase labels go to www.cisstrinity.mabel.ca
