Camp Counsellors

Join our incredible summer team in a challenging, but rewarding role as a camp counsellor! As a counsellor, you will guide and mentor the international students in our care. You will also be responsible for helping to supervise and organize trips, activities, evening programmes – and so much more!
Counsellors must be 18+ years of age. We are seeking applicants who have lots of energy and enthusiasm; who are excited to grow and learn from this experience; and who believe in working hard to support their fellow team members.

ESL Teachers

Apply your ESL teaching skills by working at one of our international summer programmes!  ESL teachers work within our curriculum guidelines to give students the best possible opportunity to develop their English language skills, learning everything from basic greetings through to advanced conversation and debates.

All teachers must have a B.Ed or be TESOL qualified to be considered for hire.  ESL teachers hired at Swallowdale Camp will live onsite for the summer, while teachers at the CISS Toronto have the option to live off-site.

Summer Camp Directors - City and Camp Programmes

Directors are responsible for the effective and efficient operation of their programme during the summer.  Just as importantly, the Director sets the tone for students/campers and staff alike – ensuring that the CISS values are visible, promoted and central to life at camp. The Director will generally be responsible for all matters in connection with the organisation and operation of the programme including the selection and implementation of the programme, staff training and development, budget management, as well as the safety and supervision of all persons, personnel, and facilities.

Successful candidates must be mature, have successfully completed a degree in Education, have experience managing people and be prepared to dedicate the summer to the programme and to be available in the spring for some hiring and planning. The role requires someone who is responsible, has strong leadership qualities, and who is able to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.  The candidate must also have a valid driver’s license, First-Aid and CPR, along with a recent Police Reference Check.

Waterfront Director for Swallowdale Camp

We are seeking to fill the important role of Waterfront director at our summer camp in Rosseau, ON.  Candidates will oversee the waterfront staff, ensuring that all safety protocols are met to the highest standards, while offering our campers an opportunity to learn new skills in various waterfront activities.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, NLS certified and have current First Aid and CPR certification.  The Waterfront Director must have strong leadership and organizational skills, together with a strong sense of responsibility.  Experience working at a lake-front camp setting is an asset.

We are hiring enthusiastic counsellors who can also drive a minivan to assist in getting campers to and from the airport. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and a valid driver’s license

We require qualified health care staff to live on site at each of our locations with minimum completion of first year in a nursing program

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We recognize and value the richness of human diversity in its many forms, and therefore strive to ensure environments where youth and adults from all walks of life, identities, and lived experiences feel a sense of belonging and can participate fully. This commitment to inclusion means our culture and practices encourage self-awareness and awareness of others; room for difference; and environments where all feel safe, respected, supported, and inspired.

Our journey into equity, diversity and inclusion is entrenched within our core values of care, integrity, relevance, and rigour by:

  • Mindfully identifying, discussing and navigating issues of racism and the impact it has on our organization and its people.
  • Holding ourselves, our communities, and partners accountable to gain a better understanding, recognize and act against any inequities.
  • Actively learning about and supporting all people and communities regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, identity, orientation, or perspective.
