HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT COURSE AT CISS ST. MICHAEL’S

Facility

The entrance to St. Michael's facility

The ideal place to spend your summer in Toronto! Our downtown location puts the city right at your doorstep. Just south of the famous neighbourhood of Yorkville, you are a short walk to Yonge Street, coffee shops, stores and so much more.  Although located right downtown, the St. Michael’s campus is extremely secure, providing young teens with a safe living environment.  Located on the same campus are large classrooms, air-conditioned student lounges, and modern dining facilities.  WiFi is available throughout the campus.

You will share a double room in a university residence with another student attending this programme.  Students are separated within the residence by gender.  Each room has 2 individual beds, desks, chairs, dressers and/or wardrobes.  All bed linens are provided, along with a bath towel.  Students must bring their toiletries. There are card-operated laundry machines in the residence – we provide laundry detergent.  Shared washrooms and shower facilities are located on every floor. Safety is our priority so our staff live in the same residence, providing full supervision.

Activities

All campers can join the activities that are planned beyond their course of choice. Our team has planned a range of evening activities and excursions, as well as the complete schedule for the season.

Display None

The General English + Activity option is the ideal choice for international summer students who want to improve their English.  With this option, students receive 10 hours of English as a Second Language (ESL) lessons per week. This includes classroom instruction in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with a focus on helping students of all proficiency levels to improve in their fluency and accuracy of speech.

English lessons comprise two of the five daily periods. You can then choose different land, water, or art activities to fill the remaining two or three periods.

Excursions

Students have a full-day excursion per week, as well as 3 half-day excursions per week. Our team is currently working on excursion options. We expect to publish details in Spring 2023.

Schedule

Camp Director – Paul Stafford

“I am very excited to join Swallowdale as Director this summer and to welcome everyone for what is sure to be a fantastic time!  My goal is to provide our entire camp family with a summer full of new friends, wonderful memories and a couple of belly laughs to boot.  If you have been missing camp as much as I have, I look forward to seeing you at Swallowdale for an unforgettable summer!”

My background in theatre at home and abroad has given me a strong sense of “play” which I love to bring to camp.  The best part about engaging everyone in “play” is that it always provides a way for us to relate to one another in spite of any barriers and is it something we can always do together.

I had the great fortune to be part of an amazing international summer camp in Austria for over 15 years.  My experience as Camp Director and Camp Manager, gave me the opportunity to meet students from all over the world and gave me a strong appreciation for the value of camp and what a positive, lasting impression it can have on us, no matter where we come from!

I am also passionate about The Covenant for Honouring Children and the 9 principles of Child Honouring.  I encourage parents to consider these promises to love, respect and be kind to children as much for themselves and their inner child, as for their own children.  As the father of two wonderful children, myself, I have found this to be an incredible foundation from which to grow and learn.

My commitment between our camp and your children is to give them a safe place to play, grow and feel challenged.  My hope is that your child’s time with us this summer will offer them an experience they continue to look forward to being a part of while they are young and one they will look back on fondly when they are older.
