One-to-One + Culture 2019

The CISS English & Culture programme offers students the unique opportunity to both learn English  in the privacy and comfort of a teacher's home, and experience Canada as they take in the sights and attractions of the city they are visiting with the company of their teacher.  Students participating in this unique programme select three sightseeing destinations for each week they stay.  Teacher hosts accompany students on all excursions, making sightseeing so much more meaningful and enjoyable.  Operating from both Vancouver and Toronto, this programme develops your language skills and exposes you to the cultural diversity of your community and all the people who live in it.

Programme

Homestay

The benefit to this style of programme is that your homestay is both your home and your school. Your host is your friend, family, and teacher. The more you can tell us about yourself, the better we can match a family to suit your personality and needs. Once a family has been selected, you will receive a profile prior to your arrival.

Your host family will welcome you into their home as part of their family. You will receive your own bedroom, complete with bed, dresser and closet. You will also have access to a quiet study area, either in your room or in another part of the home. Three well-balanced and nutritious meals daily are included, and, when possible, will be taken with the family. The language spoken in the home will be English, providing you with a complete immersion environment.

Cultural Visits

Prior to arriving in Canada, you will select one visit option from each of the following categories per week that you plan to stay: 1 museum, 1 city attraction, and 1 cultural neighbourhood tour.  Sightseeing visits are intended to showcase the different city attractions, as well as promote natural conversation.

The actual visit options available will depend on the city where you have chosen to stay.  Please contact CISS for more information!
